A major seaport, Baltimore is the largest city in Maryland and is the state's major cultural and industrial center. The Inner Harbor, a popular scenic spot in Baltimore, is home to Harborplace, an urban retail and restaurant complex where you'll find street entertainers, open-air concerts, fireworks, parades, paddle boats, cruise boats, and an outdoor ice skating rink. There are many charming neighborhoods surrounding the Harbor, including Little Italy, Fells Point, and Harbor East. Of course, when most people think of Baltimore, they think of blue crabs since this city is the hub of the crab industry. You'll find countless seafood restaurants and crab houses to serve you.
For a taste of cultural arts, visit Walters Art Museum for an overview of world art from pre-dynastic Egypt to 20th-century Europe. The Baltimore Art Museum holds the largest collection of Matisse paintings in the US. For an unforgettable journey into the sea, the National Aquarium offers stunning exhibits including a dolphin amphitheater. For sports fans, this city is home to a professional baseball team, the Baltimore Orioles, and a professional football team, the Baltimore Ravens.
